  • The Harrisons had a busy July with a team of 28 people who came to help with a variety of activities throughout Hong Kong. First, the team helped with an English Bible Camp--similar to vacation Bible School--that was held in a local elementary school. God worked in many ways during the camp. The campers had a great time hearing Bible stories and doing "unusual" activities such as playing with water balloons (something not normally done in local schools)! More than 30 children prayed to ask Jesus into their hearts. Please pray for these new believers as many of them are the first believers in their families. The team members stayed with host families in the Harrison's neighborhood. God worked in amazing ways in these family/team experiences and many special relationships were built. The local church was also impacted as they helped with the Bible camp as well and will continue to help with the follow up. The team was introduced to Crossroads International (a Christian relief organization) and helped paint and do yard work at Bethany House, a retreat center for missionaries. They also helped clean out Roy and Phyllis Robertson's Hong Kong home--a task that they felt very humbled and blessed to help with. It was a great ten days of watching God touch the hearts and lives of many in Hong Kong.  (Posted: 8/8/2008)

  • TEL-China's 2008 National Staff and Coworkers Retreat concluded somewhat quietly this year. The attendees left with many things to think about. Our main topic was Matthew 4:19, and we discussed what it meant to "Come" to Jesus, especially in light of why He had "Come" into the world. We also examined what it would mean to "Follow" Jesus, and His goal of making us "fishers of men." Alongside all that, we had challenging sessions on money management, an introduction to Creation Science, and the unique ministry roles of men and women. We trust our staff and colaborers will continue to talk about these things--but even more, put them into practice--even after returning to their homes.  (Posted: 7/28/2008)

  • Mark Bemenderfer had the privilege of sharing the Wheel Illustration of the Christian Life with more than a dozen members of the Mandarin Fellowship at Chinese University. Tong, the current fellowship leader, organized a retreat this past weekend to help build relationships not only within the fellowship, but also between members of the fellowship and God. A number of people shared afterwards how encouraged they had been to jump-start their devotional lives after Mark's teaching.  (Posted: 6/14/2008)

  • Yesterday afternoon, after mowing the backyard of his home in Denton, TX, Roy Robertson sat down to rest. The Lord chose at that time to grant Roy his eternal rest. A servant of the Lord overseas for just shy of 60 years, Roy is now rejoicing in the presence of Jesus, whose gospel he faithfully proclaimed to the end. He is survived by six children and their spouses, as well as many grandchildren, and countless spiritual children. The loss is great.  (Posted: 5/9/2008)
